Spanish Fishermen face loss of livelihoods

Our planet is facing more challenges than ever: melting ice-caps, species facing extinction, habitats being fully transformed. Europe can expect some significant changes, if things really do warm up.

Climate change: scientists say warming temperatures are playing havoc – driving fish away and destroying what they feed on. And mass commercial over-fishing. We’re basically on the brink of an ecological catastrophe… and millions of people have already been deprived of their livelihoods. Tuna fishermen in parts of Spain are facing the same problem. Their eco-friendly traditions date back thousands of years. Indeed on Spain’s south-western coast, fishermen's way of fishing may not be enough to save the tuna or themselves.
