Roman Visitors Search Far and Wide For Public Facilities
The first word that most travelers learn in the local language is “toilet” and the phrase of how to ask for one. But finding, not asking, may prove to be the harder part.
Tourists in Europe might manage to get the question down pat and even make it understandable to someone -- finding a public bathroom can be a different story.
Even in Rome, the birthplace of the aqueduct, the home of the public urinal, where one would think the waters would run freely…they don’t.
