GTZ - Making Money with Development Aid

The German Society for Technical Cooperation is an international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development with worldwide operations. Its activities include making water pumps for Africa, installing solar technology in China and teaching courses on democracy in South America. In 2008, its turnover reached one billion, for the time in its history. This makes the German company a worldwide leader in development aid. Active in over 120 partner countries, the bulk of its budget is financed by the German government, but increasingly, funding also comes from foreign governments and other international organizations. The GTZ is currently setting up health centers across Ethiopia.
