Celebrating Diversity and Fighting Discrimination

Should more ethnic models be sashaying down Paris' catwalks?
Does Sweden deserve its reputation for tolerance?
Do Scientologists face discrimination in Germany?

These are just some of the issues that Inside Europe explores in a special programme to mark the 2007 European Year of Equal Opportunities for All.

The European Union wants more people to be conscious of their rights and to raise awareness about individuals and groups that suffer from discrimination. The Year has been organized around the four principles of rights, representation, recognition and respect.

The EU's anti-discrimination legislation is among the most extensive in the world. But many people across the bloc continue to face prejudice because of their race, religion, sexuality, gender, disability or age.
