EU Plan To Offer More Support for Globalisation Victims
On June 30th, the doors at the Nokia plant in Bochum closed for good, leaving 2,300 workers out of a job. Siemens, Germany's engineering giant, announced last week that it would be cutting up to 15,000 jobs worldwide, thousands in Germany alone.
The future looks dismal for workers there as well. But there is a bit of EU support these unemployed can hope for. The EU Globalisation fund was inaugurated a little over a year ago to support employees who have lost work as a direct result of globalization.
