Gut Immling Opera Festival - From Stables to Stages
This year the Gut Immling Opera festival celebrated its 12th season.
The Opera Festival at Gut Immling was established by a former opera singer Ludwig Baumann, who, after a fall from the stage in the Dresden Opera House, was forced into early retirement. He decided to return to the depths of Bavaria, where he painstakingly converted a former horse riding hall into an opera house. Known as Gut Immmling, this has become the venue for a very different annual opera festival. This year three major operas, Nabucco, Cosi fan Tutte and Rigoletto are being presented in lavish productions with a full orchestra. Arts on the Air climbs the Alps between Germany and Austria to take a look at opening night of the Gut Immling Opera festival.
