Will he, or won't he? For many in the SPD the answer is already clear. Many believe that foreign minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier should carry the party banner into battle with the conservatives at the coming Bundestag elections. He is well known, and his popularity ratings are much higher than those of SPD party leader Kurt Beck, and he is good on the hustings. We went along with Steinmeier as he met the party rank and file, and analysed his chances for winning his party's nomination.
