Flashback 1955 - Hair Spray: Styling from a Can
The arrival of hair spray revolutionized hairstyling in Germany. Schwarzkopf was the first German firm to bring its own product onto the market. It was dubbed "Taft", because the "f" sound was said to mirror the noise made by the spray can. Soon hair spray was being used by young and old, by everyone from society ladies to punks. In 1955 Alfred Preußner had just opened his own salon. Today he's honorary president of the German Hairdressers' Association. He recalls the days when hair spray first made beehives and punk hairdos possible.
