Singing in English and Patois, he mixes some jazz, soul, hip hop and funk into the reggae.
Babatunde, that last, African name, means "reincarnation of the father." It was given to Patrice because his grandfather died the same day he was born, and his parents believed that the spirit of his grandpa manifested to live on in the baby boy.
Activism and artistry are deeply instilled in Patrice, who was born in 1979 in a town called Kerpen near Cologne. He says,
We all live in this world and have to live with the consequences of the decisions made by certain people... For the future, for our families, it’s our responsibility to do our part to ensure that the world can continue to exist. Perhaps even make it better than it is now.
