Mbeki to meet Zimbabwean leaders in an effort to save power-sharing talks
South African President Thabo Mbeki is due to meet with leaders of Zimbabwe's political parties this Monday in an effort to revive stalled power-sharing talks. This follows a call by opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai for fresh elections if the deadlock with President Robert Mugabe continued. The MDC leader, who pulled out of the June election run-off because of violence against his supporters, is calling for Mugabe to cede more power to the opposition. At a rally on Sunday Tsvangirai said he would not be bullied by Mbeki into signing a bad deal.
