Mosaic on the Mend

A conservator stands on a floor mosaic in the Roemisch-Germanisch Museum in Cologne on Friday, July 18. The Roman mosaic, which was badly damaged by hurricane Kyrill in Jan. 2007, shows scenes from the world of Dionysos around 220/230 AD. Made up of around 1.5 million pieces, it was painstakingly restored by a group of more than 20 conservators from the eastern German city of Erfurt and Italy. Bildunterschrift:
