Beethovenfest Bonn: Macht.Musik.

Enjoy a selection of classical music performed by some of the world's top orchestras, chamber and orchestral musicians, and new compositions by young, award-winning composers -- a free musical experience offered by Deutsche Welle.

The motto of this year's Beethovenfest is "Macht.Musik," which in German can mean both "power.music" and "make.music." The play on words reflects music's repeated exploitation by powerful figures, as well as its withstanding power to move people.

The recordings in the series come from the 2008 Beethovenfest, which runs from Aug. 29 - Sept. 28, as well as from the past two festivals. As a bonus, we've also included performances by the winners of the Second International Beethoven Competition for Piano in Bonn from Dec. 2007.
