Spiralling Food Prices and Calls To Re-open GM Debate

The genetic modification of crops has been largely excluded from Europe. Consumers have been wary of GM produce; campaigners have argued that this technology is hazardous -- to the environment as well as human health.
But the British government is now calling for a re-think. It says that in the face of spiralling food prices, it would be irresponsible not to re-open the GM debate. Supporters of genetic engineering say it can increase agricultural yields and bring down the price of food. From London, Stephen Beard reports.
